MONOLIT is a central control hub for a MIDI setup, combining programming, control, and performance in a single device. All core actions are performed directly from the hardware surface, without the need to constantly rely on menus or external devices.
The device is designed so the same controls can serve different purposes depending on the task. Banks, sliders, and buttons are not locked to a single workflow and can be adapted to a specific setup, instrument, or working style.
MONOLIT is built for long sessions and scalable projects. It works equally well for simple patterns and complex structures, in the studio and on stage, for precise programming as well as hands-on performance. As you spend time with it, the workflow opens up naturally without forcing changes to how you work.
This manual covers the core concepts and operating principles. The best way to fully understand MONOLIT is to use it in a real setup, experiment with assignments, and develop a workflow that fits your way of making music.

WHATS NEW
Monolit is continuously evolving through regular firmware updates. Below are some of the upcoming improvements that are already available to our beta testers.
SEQUENCING
Multi track · Variations · Randomization
Monolit OS 2 introduces an expanded multi track sequencing system with up to 8 independent tracks. Each track supports pattern variations and controlled note randomization within a defined scale, allowing sequences to evolve while remaining musically coherent and immediately playable.
PERFORMANCE
Hands on · Realtime · Control
CONTROL
Assign mode · Mapping · Flexibility
A new Performance Mode is designed for hands on interaction in live and studio contexts. It enables fast access to patterns, tracks, and key parameters, making it easier to shape arrangements and transitions in real time without breaking focus.
Assign Mode has been reworked to make MIDI mapping faster and more flexible. Parameters can be reassigned efficiently, helping Monolit adapt quickly to different instruments and setups without deep menu navigation.
SYNC
Clock · Timing · Integration
OS 2 improves MIDI clock handling and external DAW synchronization. Timing stability and interoperability with DAWs and hardware sequencers are refined to support more demanding setups.
WORKFLOW
Structure · Stability · Foundation
Monolit acts as the central control layer for external hardware, connecting synths, drum machines, and other MIDI devices into a single, coherent system. It does not generate sound on its own and is not a DAW or groovebox. Instead, Monolit focuses on controlling, sequencing, and shaping external instruments through hands on interaction and flexible MIDI routing.
The web configurator is used to set up and prepare Monolit for a specific setup. It defines MIDI assignments, tracks, scales, and behavioral logic. Once the configuration is loaded, Monolit operates independently without a computer, allowing full focus on playing and controlling external instruments.

ACESSORIES
In addition to hardware, LightReft extends its approach into carefully considered accessories and collaborative projects.
Alongside our devices, we design and release a range of accessories made specifically to complement the Monolit ecosystem. We also collaborate with Japanese brands that value craftsmanship, handmade processes, and small scale production, resulting in limited items developed with the same attention to detail as our instruments.
